We were at both of them. The river divides the city in half; on one side of the bridge is Kansas City, Missouri, and on the other is Kansas City, Kansas.
The library was in Missouri; Barnes and Noble was in Kansas. It's all one huge city. The metropolitan area equals 7,952 sq. mi.
