From [ profile] kiwiria:

It's time to sign up for the May Edition of the Pick-For-Me Challenge. A bit early this month, but I wasn't sure that I'd have time tomorrow.

To sign up, post a comment with a link to your To-Be-Read list (be it on Goodreads, in a blog post, a google document... whatever! as long as it's publicly available). On April 20th I will close the sign-ups and assign a buddy for everybody.

Each person has until April 25th to pick 2 books (main choice + backup) from their buddy's TBR-list that they want them to read for the month of May.

End of May we'll return and talk about the books we've read.

I hope you'll want to play along! :-)

From [ profile] kiwiria: Will you let him know I'm his partner? My list is here:

For him I've chosen "Ultraviolet" as my first choice, because it focuses on synesthesia which I've always been HUGELY fascinated by - in no small part because I have a very mild case of it myself.

My second choice is "Battle Royale". It's hard reading, but an interesting book... even if I do think Hunger Games handles the topic better.

I think [ profile] kiwiria has a great pick for you with Ultraviolet. It's a quirky read, and I loved the foreshadowing put into place. Of course, you could choose to read Battle Royale, and I could read your review of that and add it to my reading list.

Oops! I forgot to give you [ profile] kiwiria's list for you to pick her books:

OK, I think I will give 'Ultraviolet' a spin (Battle Royale is a pretty thick read, if I remember correctly).

My pick for kiwiria is "The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks." It's a non-fiction book I've been meaning to read for some time. It deals with a lot of thorny ethical issues that modern science has to deal with. I would be curious to hear her opinion.

Second pick would be 'Xenocide', the third Ender's Game book, another book I've meant to get around to for ages.

I will relay. You may wish to friend [ profile] kiwiria. She's an interesting person. She's from Denmark, reads prodigiously, and works in IT, if I remember correctly.

I am narrow minded. I confess. I want to find my own treasures. I have a pile'obooks on the shelf.
No is such a personal picking out underpants.
Both of which I need, at this time, to do on my own.
I am already regretting not being more adventurous.

I understand that. It's why we only choose books from that person's own to-read list. I enjoy having someone else pick my read, because I fully intend to read those books, but sometimes it's hard to get into the mood to read something difficult or potentially boring. This makes me!

Sounds like fun!, but with my eye condition, I have to stick to audio books I can find right now.
